Test your webdesign across various browsers

Consider this situation, You are a web designer and have designed a website for your client. Now you want to check your design across various browsers across various operating systems. Which is virtually impossible because maximum you can have two operating systems with 3-4 types of browsers installed. Any web designer must check his designs on 3 major browsers they are Internet Explorer (Yes the world still uses it), Firefox and Opera.

Browser Shots

I have been in this situation many times, Usually I ask my friends who are online to test it. But, this is going to change as I have found a wonderful website http://browsershots.org/ which does this for me. I no longer have to bug my friends to test the design across various browsers and versions.

How it works? It is pretty simple. Just enter the url of the page that you want to test. It will queue your request and this url will open across various distributed computers and updates the screenshot on the central server. Once the screenshot is done you can check out the url which was provided to you when your url was submitted to the queue. You can view the screenshot of your design across different 38-40 browser versions. A very handy tool for any webmasters.

  1. Nice stuff, it will be useful to test the site on non-windows based browsers. I had seen this kind of stuff few months back but it was a paid service.
These guys can do well if they have some kind of email alert or RSS feed system for wait time. Currently it shows me 30 mins wait so I guess i will have to keep the page on for quite sometime.

Let’s see, I have put my site for testing to check the results..
