I have left the publisher id blank, where you can insert it and start using it. This theme follows all TOS of Google Adsense. I have added three adsense ads unit and 1 link unit.

I think the above mentioned reason is enough to block them. Now the next question arises , how to distinguish such advertisers from other high profitable advertisers.

Search and Destroy

It is now time to search the Adsense ads on your website, Don’t click on the ad to find out the url of your advertisers. Instead if you look closely at the ads you will find that the url will be mentioned below the ad text. Now type this url directly on the address bar of your web browser. This way you will not be violating the Google Adsense Term of Service (TOS).

Now once you are on the website look out for these conditions :

• Are they using Adsense or promoting any other advertisers ?
• What product they sell ?
• How much they are selling their product for ?
• Do they have a professional design ?
• Do they have a support, contact page ?

Let us now search for these points in the advertisers who were advertising on my website. The url is www dot kapeeshwara dot com ( I don’t want to promote him by giving him a link back here ). Now you can see on this website that they are filled up with ads everywhere. So this website fails our test. Now start up a text editor and paste this url and develop a list by doing this test with other advertisers. When you are done developing the list it is time to block all these advertisers.

Here are some advertisers that I found on my website

To block these advertisers login to your Google Adsense account , browse to My Account > Competitive Ad Filter . In the text box below copy paste your list and select save changes. Once that is done your account will be updated in 24 hours. Now you are free from these low paying advertisers and better paying ads will start appearing on your website.

Conclusion:

Even though we have removed low paying ads from our website, but we have to constantly monitor our ads to find out such advertisers. There is no need to do this every day, you can do it once a week or once a month for that matter.

With the launch of Tyroo, it has come as a relief to 1000′s of webmasters banned from Google Adsense. I went ahead and signed up for Tyroo to test it. Currently I have replaced Google Adsense with Tyroo temporarily to check how it works out. The minimum payment amount is Rs.2500 , and the payout period is 1 month. Currently there are not enough advertisers in Tyroo, but that will change once it starts picking up.

They are already accepting publishers, just go ahead and register. I signed up for Tyroo ads on saturday and today my account was activated.

Web directories are a listing of websites which are submitted by the webmasters. A directory are mainly categorised into two types A general directory and a niche directory. A general directory has lots of sections and subsections where all the indexed websites are categorized. A niche based directory is a directory which is based on a special category for eg. Travel, Food, etc.

Free directory or Paid directory

Free directories are good if you are planning to index a lots of website and earn via advertisements. But in a paid directory you can charge webmasters for listing there websites. A directory is considered successful if it manages to sell paid listings. Making webmasters to pay up for listing is tough, but if your directory is worth it will rain money for you.

Set up a Web Directory

To set up a directory we must choose the best directory software which suits our need. The market leader in directory software is PHP Link Directory (phpld). The current available version of phpld is 3.2 (paid version) the older version PHPLD2 is available for free download. To install this software you need a php server with mysql for database. Installing is straight forward. In the cpanel create a new user, new database and make the user use the database. Upload all the files in the archive to the / (root) of the server if you want to install it on the domain or you can install it under a folder like www.something.com/directory/ . Once uploaded point the browser to /install and the installation will begin input the required details and your directory is up and running. You can also choose a variety of themes to match your taste. You can find many phpLD themes here.

Once your directory is up and running you can add new categories and sub categories from the administrator panel of the web directory. Now your directory is ready. It is now time to promote your web directory.

Promoting a Web Directory

This part is the most essential part as it will determine the success or failure of your directory.

• Announce the directory in all major webmaster forums ( Digital Point, Sitepoint,V7N , Directory Owners).
• Buy paid links at other popular paid link directory.
• Buy ad links on other directories.
• Keep your directory links as your signature in forums.
• Do link exchange with other web directories.
• Submit your directory to other directories, directories of directories.
• Submit your directory to DMOZ.org
• Enable SEO friendly urls for your directory.

Managing a Web Directory
This is probably the most important thing to be considered, ” People buy link only if it is worth “. It doesn’t matter if you have the best looking directory on the web. Over a period of time you will find out that lots of useless, MFA (Made For Adsense), porn, drugs, SPAM, illegal websites being submitted. Under no condition you must accept them even if they are PAID. No webmaster wants to see there website listed next to an illegal website.

Another important thing to notice is over a period of time your directory should get stronger in terms of number of incoming links and quality of website indexed. This will help you get higher search engine ranking and a good PR (Page Rank). Most of the time it is on the basis of Page Rank a directory is compared. Higher PR directory get more paid listings.

Setting the Price

It is very important to set up the right pricing for the featured listings. If it is too high you are over priced and if it is too less you are not worth it. In the beginning price it around $4.95 for one year. Keep the free links open. Once you get a PR 4 raise it to $10. As you reach PR6 you can charge around $25-$30. Again the price depend on how brand your directory. By default phpLD accepts Paypal. Paypal also happens to be the most preferred way for making payment in the webmasters world. I recommend you to have a paypal account as it will be useful to you at some point of time even if you are not using ebay. Sign up for Paypal.

Running a successful directory takes lots of commitment, time, dedication and patience. If you planning to get rich over night running a directory then surely it is not for you. Take your time, give directory its time. Brand the directory, make your directory heard in webmaster forums (don’t over do it, else you get banned for spamming).

Introduction

Add as many as you can, guys will never reject your friends request . We are done with our part of selecting a niche and selecting the target audience.

Build a Landing Page

It is time to take them to place where we want them to go. The page where we will take them is called as the landing page. A landing page is a highly targeted web page made specifically for target audience. Now the obvious question is how to make a landing page? If you already have some basics knowledge of web designing you can go ahead and create a web page, if you are still uncomfortable drawing your layout but can mange editing the html codes then I recommend you download a free template from these websites OSWD, Six Shooter Media I recommend you to use Six Shooter Media templates because they fit our purpose better. I have downloaded this template(Godetia). If you have absolutely no knowledge of HTML, I recommend that you learn some HTML before getting started. Now it’s time to choose the product we want to promote. I chose to promote is Trendy.in .To get the contents for the page, I get it from wikipedia.org. Once contents go in, I add my referral codes and start promoting it.

Promoting your Landing Page

This is the most important phase in your quest to earn money. We had signed up in Orkut and made friends with similar taste. The niche I chose here is Trend, fashion. A very happening niche for young people. Now I will go ahead and send my landing page to all my friends and the chance of them checking the landing page and signing it up is very high. We can also motivate them to promote our landing page to there friends. More people sign up, I earn more. If you planning to promote your landing webpage seriously I consider you register a domain name and buy some server space ( You can contact me, I can provide you server space at competitive prices ).

Conclusion

Now you would have got an overall idea on how to go about making a referral website and earn some money promoting your advertiser. By using this method you won’t be rich in a day or two. You will need a network of such websites to earn your decent amount of money.

At this point it is obvious that some question arises in everyone’s mind. The most common questions are why now? why are they doing this? why only paid links what about link exchange?

Why now? Probably the toughest question. They always knew people were selling links on their website on the basis of traffic and the Page Rank. So why now?? The only possible explanation that I can give you is because of the launch of Contextual Links like V7N. Matt Cutt has himself blogged against V7N’s Contextual Ads , and even called their advertisers SPAM (indirectly). So Google (Matt Cutt) doesn’t want people to buy or sell blog posts. I think Google wants only people to buy contextual ads via Adword .

Matt Cutt says you can sell links on your blogs for traffic, but not to help the other site in SEO. Now Google Adsense says you should not buy traffic as it is against the TOS.

In order to ensure a good experience for users and advertisers, publishers may not request that users click the ads on their sites or rely on deceptive implementation methods to obtain clicks. Publishers participating in the AdSense program:

• May not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as “click the ads,” “support us,” “visit these links,” or other similar language
• May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks
• May not place misleading images alongside individual ads
• May not promote sites displaying ads through unsolicited mass emails or unwanted advertisements on third-party websites
• May not compensate users for viewing ads or performing searches, or promise compensation to a third party for such behavior
• May not place misleading labels above Google ad units – for instance, ads may be labeled “Sponsored Links” but not “Favorite Sites”

Hmm.. So it is all way Google decides what a webmaster should and shouldn’t do ?What does Google want to prove with all this? Is it really related to the search engine or is it otherwise? Did I say Monopoly ?

With these policies two parties are directly affected:

Advertisers – They get a better conversion ratio and better value for their money.

Publishers – Their earning will drop further. Policies like this will affect sites like arcade games, free demo software download, tutorial websites etc. Usually websites with arcade games require huge resources, so I really doubt if they can afford to run their sites.

Well the essence of this policy is, Advertisers will get better value for their money with higher conversion ratio than before.

Google has always been excellent protecting their advertisers (eg this policy) , and as far as protecting publishers goes.. I have read Horror stories.

As you may know, our tips and guidelines mention that “users should only click on Google ads if they’re interested in the services being advertised”. While there are many precautions a publisher can take to avoid encouraging clicks on their ads, we’ve found that some implementations of the ad code can lead to accidental clicks that the publisher may not have been able to predict. Some implementations that could lead to accidental clicks include placing your ads:

- In close proximity to Macromedia Flash games
- Under pop-ups or download prompts
- Near site navigation controls on your pages, such as drop-downs or menu links

Generally, we ask that you not place your ads near features of your site that your users may interact with by clicking. If your site contains elements that increase the number of ad clicks without increasing business results for the advertiser, we may consider these clicks to be invalid. “Business results” can range from an online sale to a page view. If we detect enough of these clicks and determine that the risk to our advertisers is too great, we may disable the account. To maintain compliance with our program policies and ensure that your users don’t inadvertently click on the ads on your site, we strongly recommend that you move any ad units that are in close proximity to interactive site features.
