Let me try to insert an Image..

Hmm… Neat.. It showed me a window where I can edit most of the common photo related options, like I can Rotate, crop, shadow and lots of other option. It also suggested me that My image is too big for the blog and is good to be cropped. It also let me shrink the image to fit it into the blog. Wow.. I don’t have to touch Photoshop for a lot of things.. This theme uses Custom Fields to insert the thumbnail. Let me try doing that.. I found that in Extra>WordPress Options menu.

Hmm, I find a problem here.. Usually in WordPress I upload the thumbnail Image and then use that image url into the Custom Field with Thumbnail key to insert the post thumbnail. I guess now I have to upload the thumbnail Image manually. It would be good if they give me a screen where I can only upload images and get the url to those images. This would help solve the problem I am facing now. Well since this is a demo post where I am kind of reviewing the application as I am exploring.

There is one funny part in this software, actually it is not the fault with the software, but it seems spell check says “Blog” not found replace it with Log lol.. Well, as we all know there is no word in English Dictionary called as Blog. Actually Blog is derived from the words Web log. Anyways I just added it to the Dictionary.

What next.. I see the publish button.. Let me Go ahead and press it..

Disable Autorun on All drives :

All the USB related viruses exploit this feature to spead themselves. Autorun was mainly introduced for removable disks like CD/DVD ROMS so that they automatically run themselves without troubling the user to find the particular file. The root directory of the Drive consists of a file called Autorun.inf that contains the information to run the executable. For eg. Path of the presentation exe etc. We will just disable this feature , which will help us in a great deal to prevent the USB Drive virus.

To disable this feature :

• Go to Start > Run (windows key + r)
• Type gpedit.msc  (This opens the Group Policy)

• Browse to Administrative Templates > System

• Double Click on “Turn Off Autoplay” for the right side Settings
• Select Enable and in the dropdown box select All Drives and click OK.

Delete Any Autorun.inf files :

The first Tip will only disable Virus from spreading itself. There is a good chance that your drive may contain this Autorun.inf file from your previous infection. This file is actually hidden and made readonly so it is not directly visible on your local drive. I personally use a tool called “Filezilla” to see the contents of the USB Drive before I access it via Windows Explorer.

Filezilla is basicaly a free FTP Client software that helps you to download or upload files via the FTP protocol. But Filezilla shows all the files in the directory irrespective of it’s visibility. So I use this feature of Filezilla to look into the USB Drive. If the USB Drive has any autorun.inf file, just right click on the Autorun.inf file and click edit. This will show you the content of the Autorun.inf file. Autorun.inf file is basically a text file. See the path of the exe it points to and delete that exe, com, pf from there.

Kill Running process :

I use another handy tool called Task Killer . This is a small freeware that is very helpful to kill the running Virus Process. You might be asking why I need a tool to kill a process, when I can directly kill the process from Task Manager. Well, yes you can kill any task from the Task Manager but the problem is few of the viruses does not allow the Task manger to be visible. It automatically closes the Task Manager window and thus stopping yourself from identifying it. Task Killer is a small utility that sits on the Task Bar. Just click on it and select the Process you want to kill.

Make sure you don’t end up killing any windows task. Make sure you have saved and backed up all your important data before you attempt to do any of these methods which I have mentioned here. Since we are forcing windows settings which can make the OS unstable. Most of the time the virus process name will be exactly same as windows process name, making it a bit harder to identify. But another small tip that can help you is.. all virus process runs under “Your username” process. Windows critical processes run under System Process.

Keep Your Antivirus Updated At All Times :

This is a pretty obvious tip, but it saves a lot of trouble later. I have seen many of my friends who have disabled the Auto Update feature, I strongly disagree to it. Just enable the damn Auto update and it will take care of the updates. After all Anti viruses are meant to detect virus and save your time from manual removal.

Use Linux :

This is probably the weirdest tip but trust me if you use Linux you don’t have to worry about any of the tips mentioned above. Linux has probably the least number of viruses available. To those who have come late, linux has come long way from being a Geeks only OS. Some distro’s like Mandriva, Linspire,Open  SUSE are customized to be more user friendly. With KDE 4.0 you can be sure you have all the eye candy that can even put Vista to shame.

It gives you the comparisons depending upon search volumes across various countries and sorted by month, year. I chose the region to be across the word and year to be 2007. Finding the Right Keywords:

Find the right keywords requires you to have a good knowledge of your niche. Experience in your niche can help you sort out premium keywords. If you are new to niche do not fear, we have tools that do the work for us. We will use both Google and Yahoo to find the keywords. After all we are optimizing our websites for these two major search engines.

Using the Found Keywords:

After we have done searching our keyword, it is time to implement these keywords to rank better in search engines. To implement these keywords you need to re write your website content, since the keywords are not in proper English we need to carefully write our content to fit these keywords. It is important not to overstuff the keywords else it may back fire you. Spread your keywords across paragraphs with a maximum of 2-3 keywords per paragraph.

After writing the content it is time to interlink these keywords by anchor. Use the keyword as anchor text. If you have chosen 3 keywords write 3 pages of related article to that keyword. It is very important to keep these contents in human readable form. Consider the Search Engine spider as just another human visitor.

Next step is to get external websites to link your website. This is the toughest part and there is a complete business running with this very concept. There are different ways to get link to your websites they are

• Write quality articles/contents/tools and get genuine links.
• Buy links from websites related to your niche.
• Getting links by doing link exchange, you scratch there back and they scratch yours.
• Submitting to Web Directories and article Submission websites.

To do SEO it requires lots of your time and patience. Tomorrow I will take my site www.ghuj.com and optimize it to move up the rankings in search engines.

I think the above mentioned reason is enough to block them. Now the next question arises , how to distinguish such advertisers from other high profitable advertisers.

Search and Destroy

It is now time to search the Adsense ads on your website, Don’t click on the ad to find out the url of your advertisers. Instead if you look closely at the ads you will find that the url will be mentioned below the ad text. Now type this url directly on the address bar of your web browser. This way you will not be violating the Google Adsense Term of Service (TOS).

Now once you are on the website look out for these conditions :

• Are they using Adsense or promoting any other advertisers ?
• What product they sell ?
• How much they are selling their product for ?
• Do they have a professional design ?
• Do they have a support, contact page ?

Let us now search for these points in the advertisers who were advertising on my website. The url is www dot kapeeshwara dot com ( I don’t want to promote him by giving him a link back here ). Now you can see on this website that they are filled up with ads everywhere. So this website fails our test. Now start up a text editor and paste this url and develop a list by doing this test with other advertisers. When you are done developing the list it is time to block all these advertisers.

Here are some advertisers that I found on my website

To block these advertisers login to your Google Adsense account , browse to My Account > Competitive Ad Filter . In the text box below copy paste your list and select save changes. Once that is done your account will be updated in 24 hours. Now you are free from these low paying advertisers and better paying ads will start appearing on your website.

Conclusion:

Even though we have removed low paying ads from our website, but we have to constantly monitor our ads to find out such advertisers. There is no need to do this every day, you can do it once a week or once a month for that matter.

Web directories are a listing of websites which are submitted by the webmasters. A directory are mainly categorised into two types A general directory and a niche directory. A general directory has lots of sections and subsections where all the indexed websites are categorized. A niche based directory is a directory which is based on a special category for eg. Free directory or Paid directory

Free directories are good if you are planning to index a lots of website and earn via advertisements. But in a paid directory you can charge webmasters for listing there websites. A very happening niche for young people. Now I will go ahead and send my landing page to all my friends and the chance of them checking the landing page and signing it up is very high. We can also motivate them to promote our landing page to there friends. More people sign up, I earn more.
