Bajaj has recently launched the Avenger 200cc a successor to Avenger 180cc which I currently own making my bike look old he he.. Actually just before the promos started coming on TV I had the luck to see one, when I had gone to get my bike serviced at Khivraj Motors (Bangalore). I saw a blue colour 200cc Avenger. It didn’t had the windshield which they have recently added. Lets see whats so special about this upgrade.

Comparison :

Lets us compare the two bikes the 180cc and the 200cc to see whats new and if it is worth upgrading.

Engine Displacement:

Avenger 180cc – 180cc

Avenger 200cc – 200c

Initial Start:

Avenger 180cc – Self Start and Kick Start

Avenger 200cc – Only Self Start

Fuel Indicator

Avenger 180cc – Not Present

Avenger 200cc – Yes

Wind Shield

Avenger 180cc – Not Present

Avenger 200cc – Yes

Cooling

Avenger 180cc – Air Cooled

Avenger 200cc – Both Air and Oil Cooled.

Fuel Lock

Avenger 180cc – Not Present

Avenger 200cc – Available

Apart from these there haven’t been much changes. No changes into the looks except the Windshield which is optional. I was looking for a windshield everywhere but couldn’t find a good one even in JC Road. Now Bajaj itself is making it cool , but there is a set back, the windshield is a bit costly as it is priced at Rs. 2300 . Anyways I am going to add a windshield to my Avenger 180cc soon. The fuel indicator is a good upgrade, Bajaj avoided it in 180cc to give it a classic cruiser look. But they have realized Indian customers do prefer a fuel indicator as they are way too mileage conscious. Regarding more news from Bajaj get ready for Bajaj Pulsar 300cc which will hit the market soon.

Well the conclusion is I am not upgrading my Avenger any soon, I love my 180cc .

I feel like “GOD” .

Yesterday I went to Khivraj Motors to get my Avenger serviced. After giving it for servicing went into the showroom to see the all new 220cc pulsar. The first look of it didn’t impress me much, just reminded me of Hero Honda Karizma(KRZ) . But the DOOM of the pulsar 220 cc does look good at least when compared to Karizma. Feature wise it is much superior to KRZ. Regarding the price, the on road cost of the Bajaj Pulsar 220 cc DTSFi is Rs. 91,360. If you are comparing it with Karizma well I would say invest extra and go for Pulsar 220cc as feature wise it is much much superior to Karizma. Front/Back disk brakes, tubeless tyres, Fuel Injection/oil cooled engine are few such features which Karizma lack.

I must admit there 220 cc commercial on the tv is surely one of the much talked about commercial. Here is the commercial of the pulsar 220.

Bajaj Auto, the pioneer in performance biking has further extended the portfolio with the launch of the new 200 cc ‘Pulsar’ DTS-i in New Delhi today. The latest offering has set new benchmarks in technology, performance, and styling to address the needs of a growing segment of pro-bikers.

The new Pulsar has many firsts to its credit. It comes equipped with an Oil cooler, which helps control engine oil temperatures at sustained high speeds and rpms, thus ensuring more stable engine oil viscosity. The 200cc DTS-i engine generates 18 Ps of raw pulsating power to provide riding excitement to performance hungry bikers. This makes the Pulsar 200 the most sporty and stylish powerhouse on two wheels to pace the Indian roads.

It’s also the first bike in India to feature both front and rear tubeless tyres, which besides offering superior stability are safer than conventional tube types and in sync with the offerings abroad for similar applications. The rear tyre is the broadest in its category to ensure better road grip and stability.

The new digital console is an advanced version of the latest Pulsar family. Apart from the Digital Odometer, Digital Speedo Meter, Digital Fuel Gauge and two Digital Trip Meters, the console on the 200 cc Pulsar DTS-i has indicators for Air filter condition, Engine temperature, Battery voltage and Oil level, all of which contribute to enhancing rider info for trouble-free riding. Another first is the use of split seats for styling and comfort. The split grab rail perfectly compliments the new rear chiseled looks. It is also the first Indian bike to have electric start as the sole means of engine cranking, dispensing with the kick lever.

Speaking on the launch Mr. S.Sridhar, VP (Sales & Marketing-2 wh), Bajaj Auto Ltd said, “This launch is in line with our strategy of enhancing our product portfolio to offer riding excitement to pro-bikers. Our entire focus and effort is to deliver outstanding technology and performance. The new Pulsar has now raised the bar in the motorcycle industry with superior technology and features such as the engine oil cooler, digital console etc.”

He added, “We are already market leaders by far in the performance segment and launch of Pulsar 200 DTS-i would further reinforce our position in this important segment. The bike joins the immensely popular 150 cc and the 180cc Pulsar DTS-i to extend the Pulsar DTS-i range across a range of price and performance points. ”

The bike would be available at exclusive Probiking showrooms at select locations across the country. Performance biking now also comes at an attractive price of Rs.65,497 ex showroom, New Delhi.

More about Pulsar 200 DTS-i

The Bajaj Pulsar 200 DTS-i’s higher sportier stance with greater chassis rear inclination is supported with some of these technologically advanced features.

A lowered Headlamp/Fairing assembly alongwith a high tail-end, giving it an aggressive, ready to pounce stance.

An all Stainless Steel silencer with a Aluminium muffler can for genuine sporty looks and long life.

Large Ø 33 mm Front forks for muscular looks and to take care of the extra suspension and braking loads.

Large Ø 260 mm front disc for strong and predictable stopping power.

A unique Auto Switchover feature comes into play incase one of the two Headlamp filaments stops functioning.

A unique Battery Energy Conserving feature ensures a fixed delay after 3 continuous cranks.

All new ‘Blue tinged’ bulbs for the main headlamp and parking lamps. These emit strong ‘White’ light for a distinctive look.

Sleek, Twin row, Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) for the tail and brake lamp ensures “Zero Maintenance”. and a long battery life.

Backlit, Non-Contact type, Soft-touch Handlebar Switches.

Self-canceling Indicators that switch off when the turn has been completed and the handlebar comes to a ‘straight ahead’ position with a pre-set automatic switch off function, even if the turn has not been undertaken.

Smooth, positive, virtually friction-free gearshift feel with new shifter assembly, an integrated over-shift preventor, and shift forks with rollers mated to a change drum.

A Low Maintenance Battery with a unique venting valve, drastically reducing electrolyte loss and therefore reducing frequency of routine maintenance.

Black paint theme carried over to the front fork legs, the rear shock absorbers, and the swing arm, in addition to the engine, for deadly looks.

High performance exposed ‘O’ ring Drive chain for running in dusty conditions, providing for clean uncluttered looks and commensurate with the bikes image.

Today I went to KhivRaj Motors to book my Avenger (make payment). The onroad price of Bajaj Avenger is INR 67,743 with real price being 58K change. Anyways i was surpised when i saw something which I was least expecting.

It was rather call of the day because with so many pulsar running on the road it was time to be something different. This is reason Bajaj has release limited edition Bajaj Pulsar 180 cc in Orange colour. It is surely a treat for eyes. It looks more sporty with the orange color. It has all the features of the new 180cc i.e. Digital Display etc. It costs INR 2000 more than the regular 180 cc pulsar. I would recommend those who are going for the 180 cc to go for it. Yeah it costs 2000 more but hey it is worth the uniqueness with so many blue, black, grey and red pulsars running on the road the All new limited edition Orange Colour is surely a treat for eyes and will turn some that matters the most

Well I took some snaps with my Nokia 3230 hope you will like it..

I have been waiting to blog this for sometime. May be the time has finally come to blog it. Yes I have finally decided to buy myself a bike. This one will be special for me because I am buying this with my own money so I am feeling a bit proud now . Well, why Avenger?? The reason is that I prefer a curiser bike when compared to a sports bike. So when I look at the curiser bike category there aren’t much bikes to choose from.

I have following choices now Yamaha Enticer, Bajaj Avenger or Royal Enfield thunderbird. As I look to Enticer with it’s 125CC engine I actually feel it is a shame for a crusier bikes as curiser bikes are built for power well… Next when I look into Royal Enfield’s Thunderbird sure she is a beauty with 350 cc engine the power is there to feel. But the downside being the mileage and the cost. Yes I know from a curiser bike these are things that are not expected but hey do we have something that promises this?? Well that is why chose Bajaj Avenger.. 180cc, with lower on road price when compared to Thunderbird but with a better mileage.. yes thanks to the DTSi engine.. Also bajaj avenger is a reworked model of Eliminator so it obviously got that looks .
