4 GTalk expansions that you might be missing

Ever since Google launched there Instant Messenger GTalk it has gained to become one of the most used Instant Messenger. GTalk also know as Google Talk allows you to add what I call GBuddies (Lets call them that way because it lets you add only Google accounts) and also allows voice conversation over Voip. GTalk started gaining popularity after it was ported into Gmail. By porting GTalk into Gmail Google made sure that people under contact can add each other, then Google ported GTalk into Orkut (Google’s Social Networking website) this way GTalk users can add new GBuddies whom they meet via Orkut. Recently Google released it Google Talk Widget using which GTalk can be integrated into other applications. Lets see some similiar applications which makes GTalk more accessible.

1. GTalk Profile :

Google doesnt have a Member search directory like Yahoo. GTalk Profile lets you find other Google™ Talk users from around the world. You can click a point on the map to search for users at that location. Points on the map can represent countries, states/provinces, or cities/towns. You can also use the search box to even further narrow your search.

2. GTalk Sidebar on Firefox :

Firefox is one browser that has changed the way we browse the web, with lots of coders supporting Firefox no wonder all latest applications gets imported to Firefox one way or another. If you are still using Internet Explorer I highly recommend you to move to Mozilla Firefox.

GTalk sidebar is a small plugin on Firefox that lets you browse as you chat all via the same window. No need to open Gmail on a tab for chat or install GTalk IM application. Pretty handy plugin. To install this plugin you need firefox and you can get the plugin here.

3. GTalk on iGoogle :

iGoogle is a personalised homepage, it lets you manage all your news, mails, feeds, search etc. on the same homepage. Another way to say Google’s interactive search homepage. It is similiar to Yahoo’s Personalized homepage.

4. GTalk on Facebook :

It is now also possible to add GTalk to your facebook profile page using which you can chat with other added Gtalk members with out leaving facebook.
